All This Time I Was Finding Myself
Harry Potter
GENDER: Male
AGE: 18
SEEKING: I really have no idea, I suppose friends, I haven't had much time to think about the rest of that stuff
EXTRA: I may have just saved the world, but my friends might hit me upside the head if that's all I put, so, hi. I'm Harry. Just Harry. I'd be sort of excited if you hadn't heard of me actually.

[Is it against the resort rules to just show up at the pool on his broom? It might be. Or if it isn't, maybe it should be. He doesn't even come screaming out of the sky, just hops off his balcony in an easy loop and scans the pool area until he sees Lydia sitting conveniently near an open space. He lands easily and hops off, grinning, a little exhilarated as always to be in the air.]
Hi.

Hi yourself.
( Her eyes move to the broom in his hand. )
...how are we both getting on that thing? Won't it break?

But flying, flying is his first love, and there's only a brief wobbly moment before he's back to confidence.]
Nah, I've done it loads of times. It's magic, remember. But you might want to, erm. It might not be as warm up there as it is down here.
[He isn't going to even begin to mention the idea of chafing. She'll likely sit behind him, on the comfortable bristles, but how comfortable will they be like that?]
no subject
...fair enough. Don't worry, I've got it covered.
( It only takes her a few seconds to pull them on over her swimsuit and she lowers her sunglasses again. )
Okay, so what do I do, then?

[Harry sets the Firebolt into the air, where it hovers at proper mounting height, and swings a leg over it, scooting up a bit from where he generally sits to make sure she has plenty of room, and tucking his legs under him, leaving the stirrups for her to use for that extra bit of support. The Firebolt still has an impressive turn of speed, he's looked after it as best he can over the years, but he tells himself to take it slowly first. He might need to remind himself a few more times before it sinks in.]
Climb on, then. Use the stirrups if you like. And hang on, around my waist. I hope you're not scared of heights.
[The challenge in his smile makes it clear he doesn't think she'd have agreed to this if she was.]

When he invites her to get on, Lydia moves closer, following his lead and straddling the broom, putting her feet in the stirrups like she's about to ride the weirdest horse ever, and her arms circle around Harry's middle. )
Heights don't bother me. It takes a lot to scare me, these days. Anything I should know before you take off? Besides "hold on," I mean?

[And even though it's a Firebolt, and still one of the fastest brooms from a standing start, he kicks off carefully and guides it straight up until they're clear of the people around the pool before he leans forward and adds a bit more speed, angling toward the jungles behind the resort. They can skim the tops, and circle around over the beach, and as the wind ruffles through his hair he starts grinning again. Flying will never lose its magic.
He turns his head enough that she'll be able to hear him, though they aren't flying fast enough for the wind to whip his words away. Not yet, anyway.]
All right?
no subject
Just hold on, got it.
( When he kicks off the ground, Lydia finds herself squeezing him a little tighter with the surprise of actually lifting off the ground and, then, speeding up, literally flying. She's flying on a broomstick with Harry Potter right now. That's a thing that's happening in Lydia's life.
She grins a little at him when he turns his head and asks after her. )
I'm freaking amazing right now!

And from the sound of it, Lydia's the kind of person who really takes to it.]
Brilliant! Keep hanging on, yeah?
[Because flying fairly slowly in a straight line is not exactly any sort of introduction to flying, from Harry's perspective. No, they're going to veer right out over the jungle, speeding up now before Harry spots a little river winding through the trees and angles sharply over to it and drops to almost skim the surface of the water. Still easy maneuvers, especially for a Seeker, and he's gratified to find the Firebolt handling all of them without any trouble at all, even with two people loaded on.]

This is literally the coolest thing I've ever done, you do this all the time? Does it ever lose its luster?
( She doubts it, but you never know. )
no subject
Never. Not once. I don't think it ever could.
[He follows the river more slowly now, in the little narrow valley between the treetops. It might lead them back toward the resort eventually, flowing toward the ocean.]
I play Quidditch, actually, it's this sport that's all on broomsticks. But the first time I got on a broom, I just...knew how to do it.
